Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has instructed all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and mobile service providers to immediately block access to TikTok. The authority issued a statement today and said that action will be taken if the directive is not followed.

The authority has mentioned that it is the duty of the service provider to comply with its order and if the service provider does not comply with such instructions, action will be taken by the authority in accordance with the Telecommunications Act, 2053.

Meeting of the Council of Ministers decided to ‘immediately ban the use of TikTok in Nepal as social harmony has been created through the use of TikTok as a social network’.

Stating that some service providers have disobeyed the government’s decision, it has requested to implement the instructions and inform the authority immediately.
