Mastering the Basics of Google Ads: Unlock Your Success

What is Google Ads?

Google Ads is also known as Google Adwords. It was launched in 2000. Google Ads, developed by Google, is an online advertising platform. Google Ads are useful for businesses to display ads on Search Engine Result Page (SERP). By advertising the content on SERP, companies can get valuable insights, reach their target audience and gain profits. We can also create campaigns with Google Ads using different campaign types and formats. Advertisers can use ads like text ads, display ads, responsive ads, shopping ads, image ads, video ads and mobile app ads.

Google ads are a marketing place where companies or businesses pay a certain amount to rank their websites on the top of Google search engine pages, based on relevant keywords.

How does Google Ads work?

We can say, that Google ads are an auction where businesses bid to have their ads shown. It’s simply bidding money for clicks. The one who pays the highest amount stays on top of the search engine page. But, that is not always true because Google combines payment and quality scores. Quality score means how Google Ads specifies who has the best ad to show for a particular keyword.

Your ads will get views (impressions) and actual clicks. The click-through rate (CTR) is calculated by dividing impressions by actual clicks. A higher CTR means that your ad and keyword are better than those that have a lower CTR. When your ad is shown on the search engine result page (SERP), it receives an impression. Those who see your ad and click it to land on your page get a higher CTR.
