Chiranjibi Adhikari Appointed Acting President of CAN Federation
There is big news in Nepal’s technology world! Chiranjibi Adhikari has just become the new Acting President of the CAN Federation. The CAN Federation is the biggest group that looks after computer and technology companies in Nepal.
He is taking over because the previous president, Sunaina Ghimire Pandey, had to step down for personal reasons. She made history by being the first-ever female president of the group. Now, Mr. Adhikari will finish the rest of her term.
Who is Chiranjibi Adhikari?
Mr. Adhikari comes from Bharatpur, Chitwan, and he is a famous expert in cybersecurity (which means keeping computers and websites safe from hackers). He didn’t get this big job by accident—he has been working hard with the CAN Federation for over 21 years! He has done almost every job you can think of in the group, like being the Secretary, General Secretary, and Vice President. He even started a special club to help young students get into tech.
What Does He Want to Change?
Mr. Adhikari has some big plans to make technology better and safer in Nepal. Here are the main things he is working on:
-
Better Safety for Banks: Since more people in small towns are using digital banking, hackers are trying to steal money. He wants all banks to use safer rules, like making people use two steps to log into their accounts (Multi-Factor Authentication).
-
Keeping Data Inside Nepal: He believes that Nepal’s important government information and private data should be kept on computers inside Nepal, not on foreign servers.
-
Helping Local Tech Startups: Right now, the government buys a lot of software from other countries. Mr. Adhikari wants a rule that says “Make in Nepal.” He thinks the government should buy software from Nepali engineers first. He also wants banks to give loans to new tech companies, even if they don’t own big buildings or land to use as a guarantee.
Everyone in the tech community is excited to see how he will use his 21 years of experience to make Nepal a safer and more digital country!
