Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Kumari Yadav held a joint discussion with Members of Parliament from various political parties in Madhesh regarding the movement seen in Madhesh Province some time ago and the latest situation.

During the approximately two-hour long discussion held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, there was a detailed discussion about the recent tension observed in Madhesh Province, its causes, misleading content spread through social media, and measures to be adopted to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

During the discussion, most MPs expressed the view that misleading and inflammatory videos circulated on social media had increased public outrage and also played a role in intensifying the movement. The MPs also emphasized that relevant state bodies should be more vigilant and responsible for controlling misinformation and misleading content spread through social media.

Tapeshwar Yadav, Chairman and MP of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RASWAPA) Madhesh Province, praised Home Minister Gurung’s role in easing the recent incident in Madhesh. He stated that the situation is gradually becoming easier due to the Home Minister’s activeness.

RASWAPA MP Punam Agrawal proposed that the strictness observed in border areas should be eased. She expressed the view that an environment should be created where the general public can easily bring daily consumer goods worth five hundred to one thousand rupees from the border areas.
