EVs will dominate NADA Auto Show 2026: Pankaj Agrawal, Treasurer, NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA)
6 Bhadra, Kathmandu.
Pankaj Agrawal, Treasurer of NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) and a businessman, claimed that the electric vehicle (EV) market in Nepal has already become successful in the last three to four years.
According to him, for this reason, most of the new four-wheelers and two-wheelers to be unveiled at the upcoming NADA Auto Show will be electric. In an interview with Nepal News Bank, Agrawal stated that EVs in Nepal have now moved beyond the testing phase and are established in the mainstream market.
“Looking at the data from the last three to four years, EVs have been successful in Nepal. Therefore, most new four-wheelers and two-wheelers will be electric,” he said. According to him, the Government of Nepal has also prioritized EVs and advanced policies, which has further supported market expansion. He also mentioned that the expansion of EVs is linked to the government’s objective of reducing dependence on petroleum fuel and increasing the utilization of domestically produced electricity.
“Electricity is our country’s fuel. When electric vehicles increase, domestic electricity consumption rises, and dependence on imported fuel decreases,” he said. According to him, vehicles with new technology have been given special priority at the NADA Auto Show, which starts on Bhadra 9. Although many companies have not yet publicly released details of their new models, they are preparing to unveil them at the Auto Show itself.
According to Agrawal, about 40 to 50 new products are expected to be launched this year. He stated that most of them will be based on electric technology.
Agrawal stated that the expansion of charging infrastructure has played a crucial role in the success of EVs. According to him, while there was uncertainty a few years ago about whether EVs would be successful, charging stations are now rapidly expanding across the country. “EVs were a completely new technology. Investors in them also had to run petrol-diesel vehicle businesses simultaneously. Despite that, the pace of charging station expansion is highly commendable,” he said.
He claimed that the expansion of charging infrastructure has increased consumer confidence in electric vehicles, and its direct impact is visible in sales. He also stated that this year’s NADA Auto Show will feature electric vehicles, as well as auto components, tires, batteries, lubricants produced in Nepal, and two-wheelers that have started being assembled and manufactured in Nepal.

According to him, an effort has been made to bring national and international brands under one roof at the Auto Show. Passenger cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and auto components, along with various financial institutions, will also participate. Agrawal stated that along with the expansion of electric vehicles, quality road infrastructure and stable government policies are necessary. According to him, long-term policy stability will help attract further investment in the automobile sector.
From Vehicles to Banking Under One Roof
Agrawal stated that the exhibition organized by NADA, which boasts a 50-year history, brings together vehicles with the latest technology, along with auto components, tires, batteries, lubricants, banks, and insurance companies under one roof.
According to Agrawal, the Auto Show will not be limited to vehicle displays only. Visitors will also receive technical information, comparisons, and necessary pre-purchase consultations for various brands of cars and motorcycles. He mentioned that various companies will offer special discounts, bumper discounts, and attractive financing schemes, making it easier for consumers to choose budget-friendly vehicles.
NADA is Transparent and Active
He also stated that NADA will manage expenses by collecting fees from stalls for organizing the Auto Show. He informed that NADA’s network has also expanded to the provincial level, and the organization is carrying out social responsibility activities, while also claiming to maintain financial transparency within the institution.
