Nepal Telecom rapidly restores telecommunication services in flood-affected Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading

August 28, Kathmandu.

Nepal Telecom has accelerated the restoration of services in flood-affected districts including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.

On August 27, 2023, employees were deployed by helicopter, and a mobile station was made operational in Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa, located in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-6.

Additionally, since early morning on August 28, 2023, Nepal Telecom technicians have been continuously working in the field in flood-affected areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts to restore mobile services in places where they are yet to be re-established, and to make already operational towers more reliable.

During this process, by making the Goljung Tower (Bahundanda) located in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-5, which was shut down due to floods in Rasuwa district, operational, services have been restored in Syaphru Besi, Wards 4 and 5 of Parbatikunda Rural Municipality, Wards 3 and 5 of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, and some parts of the Syaphru Besi – Thimure Highway.

In Nuwakot district, with the Gerkhu Mobile Tower located in Suryagadhi Rural Municipality-3 becoming operational, telecommunication services have been restored in Wards 10 and 11 of Bidur Municipality, and some parts of Suryagadhi Rural Municipality-4.

Furthermore, on August 28, 2023, services are in the process of being restored at Tupche Tower located in Bidur Municipality-8 and the telecom tower located on the hill above Thimure, Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2, by deploying generators, petrol, and technicians via helicopter.

During this period, since August 26, 2023, Nepal Telecom’s technical staff have been continuously deployed at Neupane Chaur, Ramche, Goljung, and Dhunche stations in Rasuwa district, continuously operating services in flood-affected areas.

Similarly, so far, services have been restored at 80 out of 120 flood-affected sites in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts.

In this state of disaster, Nepal Telecom has given high priority to service continuity, early warning and awareness, and necessary technical work to facilitate the communication needs of citizens. The company believes this will help all relevant service recipients maintain communication with their relatives.
