Two women with complex obstetric problems are being air-rescued and brought to Kathmandu after road transport was obstructed due to a flood in Rasuwa’s Bhotekoshi River on August 26.
30-year-old Sushma Devkota, a resident of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-3, and 26-year-old Apsara Bhatta, a resident of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-4, were air-rescued for further treatment after complex obstetric problems were observed in them, as treatment was not possible in local health institutions.
Both women are being brought via helicopter to Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital located in Thapathali, Kathmandu.

Due to the flood that came in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26, road and transport services were obstructed in the affected area, creating a challenge in getting pregnant and postpartum women who require emergency health services to well-equipped hospitals on time.
In such difficult circumstances, necessary coordination has been made to arrange for the rescue and treatment of pregnant and postpartum women who have developed complex health problems, for the protection of their lives.
