DishHome and Eutelsat Launch Free Satellite Internet Service in Rasuwa’s Flood-Affected Areas
September 10, Kathmandu.
Free satellite internet service has been made available in flood-affected Rasuwa by Dish Media Network Limited (DishHome) and Eutelsat OneWeb.
Due to the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi river on Bhadra 10, 2083 BS, various areas of Rasuwa district suffered extensive damage to telecommunication and internet infrastructure. Following this, DishHome has taken a special initiative to ensure continuity of communication and information exchange in the affected areas.
With the approval and coordination of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), DishHome, in collaboration with Eutelsat, has launched free OneWeb satellite internet service in the areas most severely affected by the flood.
This service has started to be provided on a priority basis from Bhadra 20, 2083 BS.
Reliable communication service is essential for rescue, relief, and coordination during times of natural disaster. Therefore, under this initiative, free satellite internet service has been made available to government offices, security agencies, rescue and relief camps, and important coordination centers currently located in the affected areas.
Provided through Eutelsat OneWeb’s Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology, this alternative connectivity will serve as an alternative to the terrestrial telecommunication and internet infrastructure damaged by the flood.

This will help ensure the continuity of information exchange, real-time coordination, and essential data flow among government bodies, security agencies, local administration, rescue workers, and various stakeholders involved in humanitarian aid and relief efforts.
When traditional telecommunication and internet services are disrupted due to natural disasters, providing reliable alternative communication means is our top priority. In such difficult circumstances, DishHome is committed to providing necessary communication facilities to government bodies, security and rescue workers, and affected communities.
During this critical time of disaster management and rehabilitation, we will continue to deploy our services and resources as needed.
DishHome will continuously coordinate with the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, government bodies, security agencies, and local stakeholders to assess the connectivity needs and priorities in the affected areas.
DishHome has committed to expanding satellite internet service to additional high-priority locations based on need, until communication and internet infrastructure is fully repaired and restored.
Through this initiative, DishHome and Eutelsat have reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to strengthening emergency communication, rescue and relief efforts, and the community’s emergency resilience by effectively utilizing technology during disasters.
