Bhadra 18, Kathmandu.

Nepal Telecom has fully restored network access in all affected areas by making mobile BTS sites operational in the flood-affected districts.

Due to the flood that occurred on Bhadra 10, mobile and internet services provided by Nepal Telecom’s towers were disrupted in districts like Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.

Nepal Telecom’s technicians were continuously deployed for service restoration work in the flood-affected areas and through the disaster response room, after which the sites were restored.

For this work, in areas where roads and electricity were disrupted by the flood, services were restored by transporting technicians, along with goods, equipment, generators, and fuel via helicopter, in coordination with security agencies.

On 2083.05.14, with the operation of the company’s Rasuwa Border mobile site near the Nepal-China border, communication services became accessible in all places where relief and rescue operations were underway in the flood-affected areas.

Due to the flood, among the 120 sites operating in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading districts of Nepal Telecom, services operated through 83 sites were disrupted, while three sites, Timure, Chilime Khola, and Trishuli 3’B’, were completely damaged.

Nepal Telecom, on 2083.05.16, by restoring the flood-affected Kalleri in Dhading and Bhadratar Thaprek, Pusantar, Taruka, Kispang (Bhalche), and Budhsingh sites in Nuwakot, has made all its sites operational, and services that were available from completely damaged sites are now being provided from other sites.

For further effectiveness of mobile services, these damaged sites will be prioritized for reconstruction and brought into operation.

Immediately after receiving information about the flood on Bhadra 10, Nepal Telecom’s technicians were continuously deployed for site restoration work. On Bhadra 11, generators, fuel, batteries, and other equipment were sent by helicopter to Neupanechaur and Ramche repeater sites in Rasuwa district, and services were restored.

In Dhunche, the district headquarters of Rasuwa, generators, fuel, and personnel were deployed for service operation. Similarly, on Bhadra 12, generators, petrol, and technicians were deployed by helicopter to Goljung Tower (Bahundanda) in Rasuwa, and towers located in Gerkhu, Tupche, and on the hill above Timure in Nuwakot, and services were restored.

In Madanpur, Battar, Bidur Bus Park under Nuwakot district, and Baireni Thamel Dada under Dhading district, services were restored by deploying generators, fuel, and personnel.

On Bhadra 13, the tower next to Trishuli 3’A’ in Rasuwa, the tower in Kalikasthan of Uttargaya Rural Municipality in Rasuwa, and the tower in Bungtang of Nuwakot district were also brought into operation. Besides these, towers in Katunje, Samari Bhanjyang, and Betini were also restored. With this, 93 out of 120 affected sites became operational.

On Bhadra 14, services were restored at 7 more locations, including Rasuwa Border site located on the Nepal-China border in Rasuwa district, along with Upper Senjen, Chapthoke, Jibjib Micro, and Gatlang sites. Similarly, Charghare and Charghare Mulabari sites in Nuwakot were also included. Through the Rasuwa Border BTS site, services were re-established at the Nepal-China border point, Timure, Rasuwa Border Corridor, and from Syabrubesi to Bhotekoshi Corridor. With this, most mobile BTS sites in the flood-affected areas were brought into operation.

On Bhadra 15, Jibjib and Saramthali in Rasuwa, Benighat in Dhading, and Trishuli Bazar site in Nuwakot were restored.

To continuously bring the main priority sites in the affected areas into operation, generators, fuel, and personnel were deployed, and sites where electricity supply is still not regular are operating through generators.

Sites in some locations have automatically come into operation with the ease of electricity supply, and the effectiveness of 4G service is also increasing. For this work, the company expresses its sincere gratitude to all supporting bodies who continuously collaborated with Nepal Telecom employees and provided assistance and coordination to restore services, including the concerned ministry, Nepal Army and all security agencies, Nepal Electricity Authority, power plant operators, helicopter operators, local bodies, volunteer organizations, mobile repair service providers’ technicians, media, and supporting entities of companies related to mobile services.

Even during times of disaster, the company remains committed, as always, to ensuring communication services to the general public and maintaining the dignity of ‘Communication of the Nation’.
