Tribhuvan University Provides 9.25 Crore Assistance for Flood Victims

Tribhuvan University has provided 9.25 crore rupees in assistance for the rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River.
On Wednesday, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, handed over a cheque of the said amount to the Minister of Education and Sports, Susmit Pokhrel, at the ministry.
According to the university, the amount, deducted from the salaries and allowances of officials and employees, has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rector, and Registrar contributed one month’s salary, while professors and equivalent administrative staff contributed an amount equivalent to 10 days of their initial monthly salary scale.

Similarly, the university stated that salaries equivalent to seven days were deducted from assistant professors, assistant administrators, branch officers, instructors, and equivalent teaching staff; five days from chief office assistants, office assistants, and equivalent staff; and two days from non-gazetted staff, and deposited into the fund.
According to Vice-Chancellor Thapa, the amount was donated with the aim of contributing to relief and rehabilitation efforts following the loss of life and property caused by the severe floods in areas including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan.
A recently held meeting of the University Executive Council had decided to deduct a certain amount from the salaries of officials, teachers, and employees of various levels and deposit it into the relief fund.
