Ncell and BYD Nepal Partner to Provide Connected Vehicle Experience via IoT SIM
August 19, Kathmandu.
Ncell has partnered with Cimex Inc., the official distributor of BYD Auto Industry Company Limited for Nepal, to provide connected vehicle services.
With this partnership, every BYD vehicle sold in Nepal will now be equipped with Ncell’s Internet of Things (IoT) SIM, enabling customers to enjoy a smoother and digitally connected driving experience.
This collaboration further strengthens Ncell’s leading position in the field of IoT innovation in Nepal. By adopting this, Ncell continues its commitment to further promote the use of connected technology in various sectors.
Once the IoT SIM is installed, in-vehicle internet connectivity service will be available without the use of any other device in the car, supporting the BYD app ecosystem and connected infotainment features.
Users will be able to access online services and digital entertainment such as YouTube, Spotify, and Karaoke directly from the vehicle’s system, without connecting a phone or relying on a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The availability of features will depend on the vehicle, software model, and services available in Nepal. Customers will be able to benefit from Ncell’s nationwide network coverage through the IoT SIM. The user experience, like when using Ncell network on their phone, may vary depending on coverage, location, and vehicle configuration.
“This IoT service partnership provides smart connectivity, infotainment, security, and intelligent mobility features in BYD vehicles, enabling customers to enjoy an even smoother and more convenient connected driving experience through IoT solutions,” said Upang Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Ncell, during the agreement signing ceremony held in Kathmandu.

Furthermore, by connecting to the local network, it ensures more reliable navigation, whether you are on the road or stuck in traffic.”
This partnership will benefit not only new BYD customers but also those who have owned BYD vehicles in the past.
They can visit any of the 13 authorized BYD service centers across Nepal to install an Ncell IoT SIM in their current vehicle and avail the available features.
Expressing enthusiasm about the partnership with Ncell, Sahil Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Cimex Inc., said, “BYD has always been at the forefront of technological innovation. By collaborating with Ncell, we are taking another significant step to further enhance our customers’ experience.
Reliable in-vehicle connectivity facilitates our users to fully experience the intelligent features of BYD vehicles.”
The connectivity plan, validity, and tariff details will depend on the vehicle or service package, tailored to the customer.
