Entrepreneurs working in the information technology sector, increase your investment confidently; the government is with you: Finance Minister Wagle

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has urged young entrepreneurs working in the information technology sector to confidently increase investment within the country.

On Tuesday, while discussing with young entrepreneurs working in the information technology sector at the Ministry of Finance, he stated that the information technology sector is a special priority for the government.

‘The information technology sector is an area where a big leap can be made in a short time. You young entrepreneurs, increase your investment. Expand yourselves,’ he said. ‘The government is with you. Tell us what needs to be done.’

Recalling that Nepal has invested a long time and a lot in agricultural product production and export in the past, he stated that the information technology sector is an area that yields returns in less time even with investment.

He stated that the government has given special priority to the information technology sector in this year’s budget, allocated a budget for AI development, and adopted a policy to encourage young entrepreneurs working in the information technology sector.

‘Tell us your concerns. May your sector flourish. May young people not have to go abroad. What is the current situation? Tell us what the government should do,’ Finance Minister Wagle told young entrepreneurs in the information technology sector.

He also informed that the government is making efforts to bring world-class renowned information technology companies to Nepal. He stated that the government is strategizing to develop Nepal as a hub for the development of the IT value chain.

Stating that this sector will progress by addressing shortcomings that arise during work and developing it, he urged young entrepreneurs to openly present their problems and move forward hand-in-hand with the government.

More than two dozen young entrepreneurs from the information technology sector who participated in the discussion thanked the government for prioritizing the information technology sector.
