NMB Bank Leads Financial Management of Dudh Khola Hydropower Project

NMB Bank Ltd. has taken the lead as the main investor and managed the financial aspects of the 65 MW Dudh Khola Hydropower Project located in Manang District.
The Dudh Khola Hydropower Project, currently under construction in Manang District, is promoted by Dudh Khola Hydro Power Company Pvt. Ltd. The main investors of Dudh Khola Hydro Power Company Pvt. Ltd. are Mountain Energy Nepal Ltd. and the group led by Mr. Sitaram Timilsina.
In this project, NMB Bank Ltd. is the lead bank, while Sanima Bank Limited is the co-lead bank. The total estimated cost of the 65 MW project is NPR 12.90 billion, of which the banks’ loan investment will be NPR 9.67 billion. NMB Bank Ltd. has already invested in more than 50 hydropower projects.
Assistant General Manager Dinesh Dulal on behalf of NMB Bank Ltd. and Chairman Arun K.C. on behalf of the company signed the loan agreement.

In accordance with the Environmental and Social Risk Management Guidelines, 2022, issued by Nepal Rastra Bank, NMB Bank has been implementing environmental and social policies and management systems, ensuring responsible investment based on the evaluation of environmental and social aspects of its investments.
In the process of adopting international best practices, the environmental and social aspects of this project were studied and evaluated using the preliminary Environmental, Social, and Governance assessment tool (Hydroselect Tool) developed by the Hydropower Sustainability Alliance (HSA).
