Chinese Expert Team Deployed for Upper Trishuli 3B Tunnel Rescue
Kathmandu, September 13.
The Government of Nepal has continued its relentless efforts, mobilizing a special mechanism for the safe rescue of people trapped inside the tunnel of the Upper Trishuli 3B Hydropower Project, located in Rasuwa, which was affected by the flood.
To make this rescue operation, considered extremely risky and technically complex, more effective, a technically highly skilled Chinese expert team has been mobilized with the permission of the Government of Nepal. Following the government’s permission, a six-member Chinese expert team has been deployed to the site.
The team, which landed directly in the Trishuli area via a Chinese helicopter, will jointly begin the rescue work by fully coordinating and collaborating with the Nepali Army’s expert team.

The joint team will conduct a technical ‘reconnaissance’ (assessment) of the situation and feasibility inside the tunnel. Based on the preliminary assessment, if rescue appears possible, Chinese experts kept in ‘standby’ on the Chinese side of the Rasuwa border area will also be immediately called to the site.
Although the situation inside the tunnel is extremely challenging, every possible effort is being made through the integrated efforts of the Government of Nepal, the Nepali Army, and the Chinese expert team to safely extract the trapped workers.
