Gyanendra Shahi’s comment on the explicit video: ‘If proven, I will resign from my parliamentary post’

Gyanendra Shahi, an MP from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has challenged for the truth to be uncovered through health examination and investigation regarding the accusations leveled against him of consuming alcohol and linking him to an explicit video on social media.

Speaking at Monday’s House of Representatives meeting, MP Shahi, stating that serious allegations have been made against him, demanded a health examination by the Parliament’s health-related body and a team of doctors.

He announced that he would resign from his parliamentary post if it is proven that he has consumed alcohol in his life.

‘The proverb ‘being accused without having done anything’ has come true. Serious accusations have been made against me. The accusation is that ‘he said whatever he wanted after drinking alcohol, and explicit videos have emerged,’ he said.

Shahi, standing at the rostrum of the House of Representatives, stated that he appealed for a health examination, taking the country and the Parliament as witnesses.

‘This very Parliament has a health department. There is a departmental team including health workers. Let every part of my body be examined by a team of doctors. Let my blood and skin be tested. If it is proven that even a single drop of alcohol has been consumed or detected in my body from birth until now, I am prepared to resign from my parliamentary post,’ he said.

He also stated that those who accuse him and spread misinformation through social media should undergo health examinations.

Shahi claimed that an explicit video found on social media belonging to another person is being publicized as his. He announced that if that video is proven to be his, he will retire from political life.

‘This is about those who take an explicit video of some anonymous other person found on social media and promote it, claiming it is Gyanendra Shahi. Honorable Speaker, I am a member of your Parliament. It is my duty to maintain the dignity and decorum of Parliament. You are my guardian,’ he said.

He challenged them to prove through investigation if the video is his, stating that he is ready to retire from political life.

‘If that video is mine, let it be investigated; I will retire from political life,’ he said.

However, if the video is not his, his demand is that the police should take action against individuals spreading false information. He informed that a complaint has already been filed with the police regarding this matter.

‘If that video is not mine, and false information has been spread, why hasn’t the police taken action? Why hasn’t the government taken action against such individuals? I demand an answer to this. Because we have already filed a complaint with the police,’ Shahi said.

Stating that his character and political reputation have been questioned due to the allegations and content spread on social media, he demanded an impartial investigation into the matter and legal action against those found guilty.
