NADA Auto Show 2026: Entrepreneurs Claim Vehicles Will Be Available During Dashain-Tihar Despite Flood Impact

Today is the fourth day of the NADA Auto Show 2026. The auto show, which began on September 9, is ongoing at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.

Even though the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border point was damaged by the Bhotekoshi flood, entrepreneurs have stated that vehicles booked at the NADA Auto Show 2026 will be made available to customers before Dashain-Tihar using alternative border points such as Tatopani, Korola, and Birgunj.

Due to the unexpected flood in Bhotekoshi on September 10, there was significant loss of life and property. The automobiles sector was also severely affected by this. Nevertheless, to keep economic activities vibrant, entrepreneurs continued the auto show even during this difficult time.

After the road connecting the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border point was damaged by the flood, those booking vehicles have expressed concerns about the impact on the supply of electric vehicles (EVs) entering Nepal from China. However, entrepreneurs seem confident that they can bring and deliver the vehicles as there is still time before the festive season.

Entrepreneurs stated that vehicles booked at the NADA Auto Show would be made available to customers by Dashain and Tihar, major Nepali festivals, using alternative border points and routes.

Due to damage from the customs point to the road, the supply of vehicles imported from China via Kerung has been halted. Therefore, entrepreneurs have already begun preparations to bring vehicles using alternative Tatopani and Korola border points. As a result, entrepreneurs claim that there will not be a major problem in the delivery of vehicles booked at the NADA Auto Show.

Currently, BYD, the market’s largest car brand, will bring vehicles via the Korola border point. The company had also brought vehicles through the Korola border point last year. Even though a large number of BYD vehicles were swept away by the flood, additional vehicles will be brought through the Korola border point.

Ashish Shakya, the company’s manager, stated that since Cimex Inc. already uses all customs points, a problem at one border point would not significantly affect the supply.

Another popular brand in the market, Deepal, imports its EVs from Thailand. According to Gyanendra Bahadur Chand, CEO of MAW Vriddhi, festival-targeted vehicles are already on their way. Deepal SUVs will arrive in Nepal via India through the Birgunj customs.

‘Deepal vehicles are manufactured in Thailand and will arrive in Nepal via India. Therefore, all vehicles booked at the NADA Auto Show will be made available to customers by Tihar,’ said CEO Chand.

Milan Babu Malla, Executive Director of MAW Group, informed that Nami Vigo, which is currently receiving the most interest and discussion at the auto show, will also arrive during the festive season.

‘About 150 Nami brand EVs of ours were swept away by the flood in the Rasuwa customs area,’ Malla said, ‘Now, vehicles booked at the NADA Auto Show and those to be booked in the coming days will be brought to Nepal using alternative routes.’

Entrepreneurs who import various brands of vehicles from China to Nepal have now begun preparations to use alternative border points and routes.

CG Motors has been importing brands like Aion and Ridara, Jagadamba Motors imports Proton, Paramount Motors imports MG and Wuling, and SPG Automobiles imports brands like Omoda, Jaecoo, Chery Q, and Aicar from China.

Similarly, VG Impex has brought products from Great Wall Motors. LRR Group has brought Skywell and Geely brand EVs. Brands like KE, BAIC, and Arcfox are imported from China by Laxmi Group.

All entrepreneurs have started preparations to ensure that customer bookings at the NADA Auto Show are not affected and to make vehicles available, even if through alternative routes, targeting the Dashain-Tihar market.

The NADA Auto Show 2026 is taking place from September 9 to 14 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
