Samsung’s New Plan: Exchange Old Smartphones for New, Reduce E-Waste, and Get Up to 15,000 in Benefits
August 19, Kathmandu.
Samsung Nepal has introduced a plan to increase the reuse of old mobile devices alongside the sale of new smartphones. The company has stated that old smartphones and other devices collected through trade-in will be tested and evaluated, then reused as needed.
Samsung announced on Monday that it has made the management of old devices a part of its ‘Ownership Ecosystem’ while launching the new Galaxy Z series in Nepal. Under this, customers will be able to purchase new devices by exchanging their old phones, and the process of making old devices obtained through trade-in reusable will be advanced.
According to the company, devices received through trade-in will be tested and evaluated in collaboration with Appkudo and local partners. The company plans to reuse usable devices as needed and properly manage devices that cannot be reused.
Samsung expects this to help reduce e-waste generated from smartphones and electronic devices. Instead of the tendency to simply discard mobile phones after their useful life, the company’s strategy appears to be to extend the usage period of devices through reuse and recycling.

Samsung Nepal has stated that it views the sale of new foldable phones not just as a matter of introducing new devices to the market, but as an attempt to connect the entire process, from customers’ old devices to the purchase of new ones, into a single system.
While launching the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, the company has provided customers with the facility to reduce their financial burden when exchanging old phones through the trade-in program.
According to the company, customers can get an additional benefit of up to 15,000 rupees through the exchange bonus. For Samsung Nepal, the reuse of old devices has become not just an environmental management issue, but also a business strategy linked to new smartphone sales.
This aims to encourage customers to purchase new phones, as well as to bring unused old devices back into the market or manage them appropriately.
