Prime Minister Balen Shah has stated that 95 percent of communication services disrupted in flood-affected areas have been restored.
On Wednesday, while providing information about the damage caused by the Bhote Koshi flood at the meeting of the House of Representatives, Prime Minister Shah stated that the disrupted communication services in the affected areas began to be restored from the second day itself. He said that communication is being maintained through 30 satellite phones in areas outside the reach of communication services.
‘Communication services disrupted in the affected areas have been restoring since the second day, and by yesterday, 95 percent of services have been restored. Currently, in places beyond the reach of communication services, communication is being maintained through 30 satellite phones. The flood has caused extensive damage to operational and under-construction hydropower projects and solar projects in the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli corridor,’ he said.

He informed that 281 megawatts of damage occurred in 8 operational projects and 388 megawatts in 4 under-construction projects.

Prime Minister Shah stated that only some of the damaged projects can be repaired, and a large investment will be required for that. He said that 4,031.1 megawatts of electricity production have been disrupted due to the flood.
Prime Minister Shah informed that electricity services have been restored in 85 percent of the areas in Nuwakot through alternative transmission arrangements, 58 percent in Dhading, and 40 percent in Rasuwa.
He also stated that Indian, Chinese, and Korean expert teams are being mobilized for rescue and necessary technical work in the hydropower project areas.
‘We are restoring electricity services in 85 percent of the areas in Nuwakot through alternative transmission arrangements. 58 percent of electricity services have been restored in Dhading. 40 percent of electricity services have been restored in Rasuwa.
