September 8, Kathmandu.

Nepal Medical College and Birgunj’s National Medical College have jointly provided 7.5 million in support for the flood-affected families of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading. Standing with the affected citizens in the difficult circumstances caused by the natural disaster, National and Nepal Medical Colleges jointly handed over the amount to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

On Monday, a team led by Prof. Dr. Jainuddin Ansari, Chairman of Nepal Medical College and National Medical College, went to the Ministry of Finance itself and handed over the relief amount to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle. Nepal Medical College’s Managing Director Dr. Sabiha Yasmin stated that 7.5 million rupees were deposited into the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund on behalf of both medical colleges with the objective of assisting in the relief, rescue, and rehabilitation of citizens affected by the flood and landslide in Rasuwa.

‘In this difficult situation, all of us must collaborate with the state. If people are suffering in any part of the country, it is our belief that we must also cooperate from our respective areas. We are ready to provide any kind of support required by the state,’ said Dr. Yasmin, Managing Director of Nepal Medical College.

Receiving the relief amount, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle also praised the contribution made by the two medical colleges. Stating that every citizen should contribute what they can when the country is in crisis, Finance Minister Wagle said that the government would remain grateful for the generosity and cooperation shown by the private sector.

Along with the responsibility of providing health services, these colleges have provided institutional support with the belief that social responsibility must be fulfilled during disasters. Stating that not just financial support, but also cooperation and solidarity between health institutions, health workers, and the community are important during disasters, both medical colleges have pledged to continue the spirit of humanitarian service.

This joint initiative of the two health institutions has also highlighted the social role that the private health sector can play in times of disaster. This contribution, made with the aim of collaborating with the state’s efforts and providing necessary support to normalize the lives of affected citizens, has further strengthened the humanitarian spirit of ‘Everyone’s support in disaster’.

National Medical College, Birgunj and Nepal Medical College, Kathmandu have stated that in the coming days, they will continue their cooperation and contributions to humanitarian and social service activities, according to the needs and circumstances of citizens affected by disasters in various parts of the country, including Rasuwa.
