Nepal Volleyball League (NVL): Kathmandu Reds and Sagarmāthā Smashers Secure Spectacular Wins

Kathmandu Reds and Sagarmāthā Smashers have secured victories in the Xtreme Energy Drink Nepal Volleyball League (NVL).

On Saturday, in a competitive match held at the National Sports Council covered hall in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu Reds defeated Madhesh Warriors 3-2. In their first match, Kathmandu won by scores of 20-25, 26-24, 25-17, 22-25, and 16-14.

This is Madhesh’s second consecutive loss in two matches. In their first match, Madhesh had lost to Sagarmāthā Smashers by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, and 25-21. Ahmad Mustafa Khan of Kathmandu Reds was declared ‘Man of the Match’.

In another match, Sagarmāthā defeated Khaptad Falcons in straight sets (3-0). Sagarmāthā won the first and second sets by identical scores of 25-18. Sagarmāthā won the third set 25-19. This is Sagarmāthā’s second consecutive win in two matches. In their first match, Sagarmāthā had started with a win by defeating Madhesh 3-1.

Aimal Khan of Sagarmāthā was chosen ‘Man of the Match’. Aimal has become ‘Man of the Match’ for the second consecutive time. Aimal was also ‘Man of the Match’ in the match against Madhesh.

The tournament will feature two matches on Sunday. In the first match, Annapurna Spiker Kings will face Kathmandu Reds. The second match will be between Karnali Shivraj and Khaptad Falcons.

Six men’s teams are participating in the tournament organized by Kedia Group with the support of the Nepal Volleyball Association. Participating teams will first play on a single round-robin league basis. The team that finishes at the top of the league will enter the final. The teams in the top two and third positions will play a playoff for a spot in the final.

The total prize money for the Nepal Volleyball League is 3.2 million rupees. This is the highest prize money in the history of Nepali volleyball to date. The winner will receive a cash prize of 2 million rupees.

The final of the tournament, sponsored primarily by Xtreme Energy Drink, will be held on Bhadra 28. This is the first time a men’s volleyball franchise league has been held in Nepal.
