We will not let there be any shortage in relief and rescue for flood victims: Prime Minister Shah

17 Bhadra, Kathmandu.

Prime Minister Balen Shah has expressed sorrow over the human casualties caused by the severe flood in Bhote Koshi, Rasuwa, and stated that the government is firmly committed to dealing with the disaster.

Addressing the special session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shah stated that the flood that occurred in Bhote Koshi, Rasuwa, on Bhadra 10 caused significant human casualties in a moment.

He offered heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their lives in the flood and expressed sympathy to the bereaved families.

Prime Minister Shah said, ‘The severe flood that occurred in Bhote Koshi, Rasuwa, on Bhadra 10 snatched away our mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers from us in an instant. I offer heartfelt tributes to all those who lost their lives in this unimaginable disaster.’

He stated that the damage caused by the disaster in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading is not just the pain of those districts but a common sorrow of the entire nation.

‘This pain is not just of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading; it is a common calamity that has struck the heart of entire Nepal,’ he said.

Prime Minister Shah stated that during a crisis, leadership should give courage and confidence to the people, not despair. He mentioned that there is no time for rest due to fatigue and pain during a disaster, and said that rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts are being advanced with priority.

‘There is no luxury to rest, claiming the body is tired. Even when the heart breaks, there is no time for mutual lamentation. We have accepted the reality that in this hour of crisis, the nation’s leadership should give courage and confidence to the people, not tears. Therefore, we have no other option but to fight this disaster with firm resolve and courage. We are fighting,’ Prime Minister Shah said.

He stated that there is no alternative but to move forward with firm resolve and courage to face the disaster.
