The Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) has established the Robotics Technology Development Fund to build indigenous robots for disaster management, search and rescue, and Himalayan tourism.
Disaster Management with Indigenous Technology: Establishment of ‘Robotics Technology Development Fund’ by RAN
The Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) has announced the Robotics Technology Development Fund (RTDF) to mitigate the risk of natural disasters in Nepal through technology. The main objective of this initiative is to research and develop indigenous technology, search and rescue robots, and heavy-duty (all-terrain porter) robots suited for Nepal’s complex geographical structure for Himalayan tourism.
Key Objectives of the Fund:
Disaster Preparedness and Response: Building robots for glacier lake monitoring, wildfire control, and working in earthquakes, landslides, and avalanches.
Tourism and Rescue Technology: Development of technology for carrying heavy loads in mountainous regions and for search and rescue in complex terrains.
Youth and Robotics Club Capacity Building: 25% of the collected funds will be used to strengthen robotics clubs in more than 100 colleges and schools across the country.

Long-term Goal: To establish Nepal’s own Robotics Industry by 2045.
Financial Targets
First Phase: $100K USD – for initial prototypes and youth innovation.
Second Phase: $1 Million USD – for technology expansion.
Third Phase (Long-term): $10 Million USD – for industry establishment.
How to Contribute? Individuals, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and NGO/INGOs can contribute through donate.ran.org.np. All collected funds will be approved by the Social Welfare Council (SWC) and publicly disclosed with transparency on the website once a week.
